The Flint Area Knights of Columbus Male Chorus was established in 1964 as a recreational arm of Council #695 K of C Flint. During subsequent years, membership in the “Singing Knights” was opened to any Knights of Columbus member from the Flint area. The membership today represents Michigan K of C councils in Grand Blanc, Burton, North Branch, Ortonville, Davison, Swartz Creek, Flushing, and Mt. Morris.
The group has performed for many functions of the Knights of Columbus in Michigan such as KC night at Tiger Stadium, Cobo Hall for the International K of C convention and the state convention on Mackinac Island. The Singing Knights have also been privileged to sing at Catholic Mass in many cathedrals and churches in the state. In 1982, the group traveled to Washington, D.C., to sing at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Knights of Columbus. While there, it also performed at various Washington veterans’ hospitals. The chorus has also performed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with the only other known K of C male chorus in America. This year the group held its 30th annual Cabaret (Spring Show and Dinner Dance) in May 2012, a show that has sold out every performance for the past fifteen years.
The Singing Knights value its membership in the GLMCA and look forward each year to take part with the members of the organization in the advancement of male chorus singing in Michigan.
